During these their last moments, those leaves remind us that beauty belongs to everything. Even when we stand on the threshold of the grave, we can do so sublimely. Death can indeed be beautiful, noble and even inspiring.
Think of Christ as He made His way to Calvary. What was a passage of pain became a path of love. It was transfigured into a place of forgiveness, mercy and nobility. Hence the Cross is no longer a symbol of horror but of salvation.
The autumn leaves will soon fall, but not before filling these last days of light with radiance and wonder.
